The Streaming Platform to Bring a Popular Game TV Series from the Creators of Alien: Earth and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.
The latest Far Cry instalment that players dived into was Far Cry 6, that starred Giancarlo Esposito in the role of the bad guy, Antón, and was released on October 6, 2021. As a series, it has a reputation for celebrating violence and madness with the same glee, all while telling gripping, socially charged stories. No wonder then that FX's decision for a Far Cry seasonal program attracted two creators whose projects have embodied all of those qualities.
Show Details
Adapted from Ubisoft's hit video game franchise, the limited anthology series will stream on Hulu and is being made by FX Productions. The anthology will also mirror the video games' structure by introducing a new location and ensemble in each season.
Executive Team
Rob Mac, producer of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, and Noah Hawley, the visionary behind FX's Alien: Earth and Fargo, will work as showrunners on the series under their companies, More Better Productions for Mac, and 26 Keys for Hawley. They will be accompanied by Emilia Serrano for 26 Keys, Nick Frenkel for 3 Arts, Jackie Cohn for More Better Productions, John Campisi, Gerard Guillemot, Margaret Boykin, and Austin Dill for Ubisoft Film & Television.
The network enjoyed outstanding relationships with Rob Mac and Noah Hawley for a combined six series and 32 seasons of television, and we are overjoyed that they are working together for Far Cry,” said Nick Grad, President, FX Entertainment, in a announcement. “I have no doubt that they will present this story in a way that is innovative, compelling, and extremely entertaining. We also want to thank our collaborators at Ubisoft for entrusting us with this cherished property.”
Cast and Future Plans
Mac will also appear in the show, but currently, we have no details on what character that could be. Hawley's Alien: Earth was recently approved for a second instalment, with FX and Disney signing a new overall deal with the producer.
“Getting to work alongside Noah Hawley is a fantasy come true,” said Rob Mac. “Ubisoft has been incredibly accommodating, placing faith in us with one of the most famous video-game universes ever created. And throughout this process, my FX partners constantly supports me with their ongoing confidence and assistance.”
“What appeals to me about the Far Cry game collection is that it’s an anthology series. Every instalment is a variation of a idea, the same way every run of Fargo is a version on a theme,” noted Hawley. “To create a epic action show that can evolve from one instalment to the next, while always examining the core of society through this intricate and chaotic lens, is a long-held aspiration. I’m eager to work with Rob and present our mutual irreverent, visionary style to the screen.”
A time frame for when we can look forward to the new Far Cry show has not been announced. The series will stream on Hulu in the United States and on Disney Plus globally.
