Homages Flow for the Reiners as Autopsy Reports Face a Security Hold.
Over a fortnight subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the couple.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Recalls His Director
Sharing on social media, actor Cary Elwes, who was featured in Reiner's beloved 1987 film *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to share openly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has gone by that I can finally articulate my loss into words," posted Elwes, saying that his first meeting with Reiner made him fall in love. "As we began spending more time together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor uploaded never-before-seen clips from the production, commenting that he cannot recall "a single day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob held dear. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to direct it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "To say that they were a incredible duo would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He ended with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Reflects on a Colleague and Comrade
In a separate tribute, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved hanging out with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's cameo appearance in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the main character.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with his co-stars, and he understood the human predicament of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles judge ruled to bar the disclosure of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A judicial mandate issued a security hold on the investigation to limit the public release of "any investigative information, documents, files or images" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had already determined their deaths were the consequence of homicide, with a public database citing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
Aftermath and Reactions
Following the deaths, public personalities expressed divergent reactions.
Former President Donald Trump commented on the matter, offering provocative claims that were broadly criticized by several individuals.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the those speaking out last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan described the comments as "disturbing" and suggested they demonstrated a concerning deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan concluded by remarking that an adviser could have stepped in when the choice to comment on the death was made.
