Chiefs Acknowledge Domestic Violence Claims Connected to Wide Receiver Rashee Rice

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment Wednesday night indicating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver Rashee Rice and were in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player by name in their announcement and stated they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, shared a set of images on Instagram that appeared to show indicators of bodily harm. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the Chiefs drafted in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Off-Field Troubles

The receiver was absent for the initial part of this season due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a multi-vehicle accident on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was given a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

On the field, he concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went with a losing record and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
